Meet Miriam

Hi! I’m Miriam! I qualified as a midwife in 2019, after the birth of my two children in 2010 and 2013. Prior to this I trained with the National Childbirth Trust as a Doula. I have experience in all areas of hospital-based midwifery care and currently work in the infant feeding team.

The journey of pregnancy, childbirth and adapting to life with a newborn is as a rite of passage for parents and my aim in providing antenatal education is to support women to access their own inner instincts and resources. I want all women and parents to have full information about the physiology of birth as well as the options and choices they will be presented with within the current NHS maternity system, so that they can make informed decisions that feel right for them and their families.

I have a lot of experience in providing breast- and bottle-feeding support for new parents, from birth until 6 months and beyond. I follow an holistic and family-centred approach, exploring a range of different feeding options to support parents through their feeding journey.

The transition to parenthood can be challenging, and one of my biggest passions is helping parents to navigate this time by: building their support networks; looking after their own emotional, physical and spiritual health; and providing information about responsive, child-centred parenting approaches, such as gentle sleep solutions, babywearing and co-sleeping.

I am looking forward to meeting you all!

My husband and I learned so much about the birth experience and the options available to us, which left us feeling confident in all of the choices we made.
The Village Midwife antenatal course helped me gain confidence and a better understanding of what to expect before and after birth. It also helped me connect with other mothers-to-be in the area, our group WhatsApp chat has been such a lifeline and great company during maternity leave!
